My Guinness World Record Attempt
Almost a year ago, I undertook the enormous task of collecting and analyzing Safaricom scratch cards. The ordeal saw me collect large amounts of Safaricom scratch cards that fitted in a box, then my thought ran “wow, these cards are too many I may as well enter them for Guinness World Record for the largest collection of scratch cards”. But first, the information had to be documented and entered in an excel sheet, the interesting part of this phrase is that in collaboration with a workmate we cracked the Safaricom serial number, read more about it HERE.
All was set and documented, and then I stake my claim to Guinness World Records headquarters in London. The e-mail response is below.

Dear
Mr Chris Orwa,
Thank you for your application to attempt the record ‘Largest Collection of Scratch Cards’.
The current record (current as at the date of this letter) is:
Darren Haake of Bateau Bay, New South Wales, Australia, has collected 319,011 scratch cards since 1993. Of the cards that have been scratched, 160,855 were winning ones.

I gave up, my collection totaled to an approximate 30,000 cards, the record was 10 folds away, maybe another day on another thing. It is interesting to note though that of the 14 Guinness World Records set by Kenyans 12 come from athletes.
